The Municipality of Garda has adopted a new measure to combat smoking in public spaces, becoming the first municipality in the Veneto region and on Lake Garda to introduce this ban. According to the decision, smoking (including e-cigarettes) will be prohibited in outdoor areas and patios of bars and restaurants in the town.
The main objective of this measure is to protect public health and the rights of both smokers and non-smokers. It is expected that a specific ordinance will be published shortly to further clarify and regulate this new rule.
The decision has sparked debate in the area, involving both local business owners and the Confesercenti association. The association raises concerns about the restrictions imposed by the current national regulations and questions the practical implications of this measure, as well as the issue of limiting business freedom.
The issue of outdoor smoking bans is increasingly present in the national debate, and this new development will surely continue to be discussed in the future.
Italian Version
I was going to visit Garda Town, but not anymore due to the smoking ban. We will spend our money elsewhere.
