The Soroptimist International Club Garda Sud recently made a valuable contribution to the Desenzano del Garda Hospital by donating a breastfeeding station to the pediatric department of the healthcare facility. This new space is equipped with a nursing chair, an electric breast pump, and a breastfeeding pillow with a cover.
The donation was received by ASST Garda’s General Director, Roberta Chiesa, the Health Director, Pietro Imbrogno, the Medical Director of the Desenzano Presidium, Pietro Piovanelli, and the Director of the Pediatric and Neonatology Unit, Donatella Cattarelli.
Roberta Chiesa expressed deep gratitude to the president, Caterina Sartorelli, and the members of the Soroptimist International Club Garda Sud for this meaningful gesture. “As a mother, I remember that the moment of breastfeeding is very special, intimate, and requires tranquility and comfort,” commented Chiesa, emphasizing the importance of serenity during breastfeeding.
Donatella Cattarelli explained how this donation aligns with the hospital’s policy of promoting breastfeeding. “Breast milk is essential for the well-being of both the newborn and the adult individual,” stated Cattarelli. She also highlighted the crucial nature of women being able to approach breastfeeding in a peaceful and comfortable manner from the early days.
Caterina Sartorelli expressed satisfaction with the inauguration of the new breastfeeding station in Desenzano, emphasizing that it is a national project in support of breastfeeding. “Our goal was to create a suitable environment for mothers and their newborns,” stated Sartorelli. She also expressed interest in continuing collaboration with ASST Garda on future projects aimed at women and children.
