The Parish Church of the Ss. Faustino and Giovita in Fasano Sotto, in the municipality of Gardone Riviera, will host the third concert of the Suoni e Sapori del Garda 2024 Festival on June 16th at 9:15 pm. The event will feature the participation of three renowned musicians: Kaori Ogasawara on violin, Silvia Sesenna on harpsichord, and Nicola Iannone on double bass. The concert will be centered around the theme “The 1685,” the year of birth of Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Friedrich Händel, and Domenico Scarlatti.
The year 1685 was crucial for Baroque music, marking the birth of three composers who profoundly influenced the musical landscape of the time: J.S. Bach, G.F. Händel, and D. Scarlatti. These artists not only navigated through the great cultural and intellectual changes of their time but also contributed to ushering music from the Baroque period towards European Enlightenment and musical classicism.
Despite the temporal similarities, each of these composers developed a unique style, influenced by the different destinations of their artistic works and the contexts in which they operated.
The program for the evening includes a careful selection of the most representative works by the three composers:
Domenico Scarlatti (1685 – 1757):
– Sonata No. 1 in D minor K.77
– Sonata No. 3 in D minor K.89
– Sonata No. 4 in D minor K.90
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 – 1750):
– Sonata No. 2 in A major BWV 1015
Georg Friedrich Händel (1685 – 1759):
– Sonata No. 2 in G minor op.1 No.10 HWV 368
– Sonata No. 4 in D major op.1 No.13 HWV 371
