Approximately 350 students from the first and second grades of the “Catullo” middle school in Desenzano participated in two meetings organized by the Lions Club Sirmione on the importance of safe internet navigation and proper online practices.
The meetings were held at the auditorium kindly provided by the “Bazoli-Polo” Higher Institute and featured speakers Dr. Pierangelo Russi from the Lions Club Romano di Lombardia BBO and lawyer Francesco Piccoli. The students, aged between 11 and 13, showed great interest in the speakers’ presentations and asked numerous questions.
The initiative by the Lions Club Sirmione was born at the request of the principal of the “Catullo” middle school, Carlo Viara, who raised concerns about the online safety of adolescents.
The project promoted by the Lions Club is aimed at young students attending lower secondary school and has been well received by the students. The speakers explained clearly and comprehensibly the dangers they may encounter online, with particular attention to the phenomenon of cyberbullying.
The initiative was highly successful at the “Catullo” school and it is expected to be extended to other schools in the area.
It is important to highlight the educational and courteous approach of the speakers in addressing such a sensitive topic with the students, using terms and examples that are easily understandable.
