Brescia Museums Foundation and the Municipality of Brescia have presented the 2024 edition of the Summer Camp, a summer program that will take place in the Civic Museums of the city. The initiative is aimed at Brescia families and promises an educational and recreational experience for children and teenagers.
The Summer Camp will take place from June 10th to September 6th for children aged 6 to 11, while from June 10th to 28th it will be dedicated to young people over 12. The activities will take place at the Santa Giulia Museum, the Castle of Brescia, and the Tosio Martinengo Art Gallery.
Hours: Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.
The 2024 edition introduces several novelties, including the inauguration of the new educational classroom in the historic former officers’ building of the Castle, which has just been renovated. Furthermore, there will be a collaboration with the Brescia Astronomical Union and the Brescia Natural Science Museum, which will offer a special day at the Castle dedicated to astronomy and mythology.
One of the main novelties is the launch of the first English-language Summer Camp, aimed at teenagers aged 10 to 16. This camp will be led by a museum operator with international experience and will take place entirely in English at the Tosio Martinengo Art Gallery.
This year’s Summer Camps also continue their commitment to inclusivity. Thanks to the contribution from the Fund for the Inclusion of people with disabilities of the Lombardy Region, it will be possible to welcome children with autism spectrum disorder residing in the Province of Brescia.
Collaborations will also be renewed with organizations such as the artistic residency of Palazzo Monti and the Il Gabbiano Cooperative, offering specific programs for families in need or with special needs.
The Summer Camp program will include various activities, such as:
1. “What’s cooking?”: five days dedicated to food history and artistic experiments (various dates).
2. “Between me and myself”: an inner storytelling project (various dates).
3. “Temporary art”: a journey through museums and temporary exhibitions (various dates).
4. “It can be done!”: a path between tradition and innovation in the world of artistic materials (various dates).
5. “The Castle of Brescia – A place to experience”: discovering the structures of the Castle (various dates).
6. “A multitasking Castle”: exploring the different realities hosted in the Castle (various dates).
