In recent days, new scams have targeted the elderly population in the Alto Garda area, particularly between Desenzano, Sirmione, and Lonato. Several residents have reported being contacted by individuals posing as carabinieri, who urged them to come to the police station for unclear reasons. This tactic was devised by the criminals to lure victims out of their homes, allowing them to enter the residences and commit thefts.
Fortunately, none of the attempts were successful thanks to the quick thinking of the elderly individuals who recognized the scam and reported the calls to the relevant authorities. Law enforcement has emphasized that it is not customary to make such phone communications and advises everyone to be wary of suspicious contacts, urging them to immediately notify the emergency number 112 in case of ambiguous situations.
