The summer of 2024 on Lake Garda will be enriched with jazz notes with the return of the Garda Jazz Festival, which will animate various locations in the Trentino Alto Garda region from July 29th to August 11th. Arco, Drena, Dro, Nago-Torbole, Riva del Garda, and Tenno will be the stages of this musical event that will feature renowned artists both nationally and internationally.
This year, the festival takes inspiration from the words of the famous American pianist Bill Evans: “You can’t explain jazz to someone without losing the experience. It must be lived, because it doesn’t hear words.” The 2024 edition aims to stimulate a curiosity that is free and without prejudices, typical of children discovering new sounds.
The Garda Jazz Festival offers eighteen events including concerts, workshops, flash mobs, and jazz cafés. Some events will be free, while others will require a ticket. The chosen locations to host the performances include charming places such as Arco Castle, the Pavese Colony Park in Torbole, the medieval village of Canale di Tenno, the Sarca River Park in Dro, and the Riva del Garda Congress Center.
The event is organized by the Alto Garda Music School (Smag) with the support of the Autonomous Region of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, the Autonomous Province of Trento, the local municipal administrations, and the Garda Dolomiti Tourism Board.
The official presentation of the 2024 edition took place on Wednesday, July 10th at the Du Lac et Du Parc Grand Resort in Riva del Garda. The ceremony was attended by several institutional representatives, including mayors Giovanna Chiarani (Drena) and Giuliano Marocchi (Tenno), deputy mayors Silvia Betta (Riva del Garda), Sara Balduzzi (Nago-Torbole), and Roberto Zampiccoli (Arco), councilors for Culture Guido Trebo (Arco) and Ginetta Santoni (Dro), as well as the presidents of Smag Roberto Grassi and Apt Silvio Rigatti.
“Summer in Trentino Garda also means high-quality entertainment,” said Rigatti during the presentation. “The Garda Jazz Festival is fully part of the top events of the season.”
Some of the main events on the schedule include:
– July 29th: “Emozioni sonore” exhibition from 4 pm to 9 pm at the Pavese Colony in Torbole sul Garda.
– July 29th: Flash mob “Acqua” at Viale Dante in Riva del Garda at 6 pm.
– July 29th: Sam Ghezzi tribute to Fred Buscaglione at the Pavese Colony Park at 9 pm.
And many other appointments until August 11th with artists such as Trilok Gurtu & Arkè String Quartet at Arco Castle on August 8th or Olivia Trummer featuring Fabrizio Bosso at the Congress Palace on August 10th.
