On October 12, 2024, the new Equestrian Unit of the Civil Protection of Basso Garda was officially presented in Desenzano, marking the first of its kind in the province. This group, already operational, has completed its first exercise in Padenghe and is equipped with four horses, all owned by the volunteers. The unit is led by Giulio Prandini and collaborates with the Colli Morenici Forest Unit to provide search and rescue services throughout the provincial territory and beyond.
This initiative is part of the activities of the Civil Protection of Basso Garda, which currently has 115 volunteers and includes various operational units such as Nautical, Divers, and Logistics. Luca Trincia, president of the local Civil Protection, emphasized the importance of the new unit for search and rescue operations and for the distribution of essential goods in emergency situations.
