The “Lune di Teatro” festival is back to illuminate the shores of Lake Garda with a series of summer performances that promise to captivate residents and tourists alike. Organized by Viandanze Culture and Pratiche Teatrali, this cultural initiative, which was established in 2000, aims not only to bring the public closer to theater, but also to showcase some of the most enchanting locations in the region.
The theater season kicked off with the extraordinary performance of the duo Nando and Maila in their “Sonata per Tubi” (Sonata for Tubes). This unique show saw the musicians transform simple tubes into musical instruments to perform classical pieces. The performances took place in three different locations: Parco delle Pozze in Lonato (June 17), Piazza del Castello in Polpenazze (June 18), and Parco Donne della Costituente in San Felice del Benaco (June 19).
Nando and Maila created a magical atmosphere by combining circus elements such as sounding hula hoops, clave turned into saxophones, and sound devils with live music. Their ability to use modified circus tools as musical instruments amazed the audience, demonstrating that every object can produce surprising sounds.
The month of June continues with the show “Io e Noi, è Bello. Io e Te, è Meglio” (Me and Us, It’s Nice. Me and You, It’s Better) by the Anfass – Asino Verde company. This performance will take place on June 28 in Sirmione and on July 1 at the Desenzano Castle.
In July, it will be time for the show “Dalla Parte di Zorro” (On Zorro’s Side), a musical reading based on Margaret Mazzantini’s work “Zorro un eremita sul marciapiede” (Zorro, a Hermit on the Sidewalk). With the immortal songs of Lucio Dalla performed live, this event will feature actors Stefano Orlandi, Matilde Facheris, and Massimo Betti on guitar, accompanied by Stefano Fascioli on double bass. The show will take place on July 5 at Parco delle Donne della Costituente in San Felice del Benaco.
Margaret Mazzantini describes Zorro as a tramp who observes society from the margins, accepting his destiny with a unique combination of irony and drama. Her words come to life through the evocative melodies of Lucio Dalla’s songs.
The second workshop will take place on July 7 at the Cominelli Foundation in San Felice del Benaco. The young participants in the residential project “Laboratorio di Cisano” will present the results of their creative work.
The “Lune di Teatro” festival will continue throughout July with over ten scheduled events in the participating municipalities. All performances are free of charge and do not require reservations.
This rich calendar is made possible thanks to the contribution of the local municipalities, including Bedizzole, Desenzano del Garda, Lonato del Garda, Moniga del Garda, Padenghe sul Garda, Polpenazze del Garda, Pozzolengo, Sabbio Chiese, San Felice del Benaco, and Sirmione. The support of technical sponsors such as Vip’s Motel and local cultural associations is also important.
