Two alcohol thieves were arrested in Colombare di Sirmione after a chase on July 30, 2024. The pair, consisting of homeless foreigners, were already under surveillance by the local police and were caught while exiting a supermarket with five stolen bottles of alcohol valued at a total of €8,000. Despite fleeing on stolen bicycles, the officers managed to apprehend them thanks to their knowledge of the area.
The bicycles used by the thieves, valued at €3,000 and €5,000, had been stolen from a couple of tourists and were returned to their rightful owners. The two individuals were reported while at liberty, and the law enforcement agencies received commendations from the Sirmione municipal administration for the intensified summer patrols aimed at ensuring the safety of residents and tourists.
