A 47-year-old windsurfer was rescued today, Wednesday, November 20, by the Coast Guard after being reported missing off the coast of Tignale. The alert was raised around 3:30 PM when another windsurfer reported their companion missing for over 30 minutes. Weather conditions were adverse, with gusts of wind from the north reaching up to 30 knots, as indicated by Civil Protection bulletins.
Rescue operations were immediately initiated, involving naval units from the Coast Guard in Salò and the State Police from Riva del Garda, as well as a helicopter from the 118 emergency services that took off from Bergamo. After approximately 40 minutes of searching, the windsurfer was spotted adrift in the water, fatigued and with a broken mast due to the strong gusts. He was recovered by the naval unit GC Alfa 58 and transferred to the port of Tignale, where an ambulance was waiting to provide the necessary medical attention. The Coast Guard emphasized the importance of always checking weather conditions before engaging in nautical activities.
