Last Sunday, Toscolano Maderno hosted the tenth edition of the Mad of Lake, one of the most important downhill competitions in Italy, attracting over 100 competitors from across Europe. The race took place on a course of approximately 1600 meters with a vertical drop of 230 meters, and saw world champion Tomas Slavic from the Czech Republic claim victory for the fifth consecutive time, finishing with a time of 2:31.446. In second place was German rider Pfeifer Lars, just over a second behind, while South Tyrolean Jan Laner completed the podium.
In the women’s category, the winner was Czech rider Nela Viktorovà with a time of 3:03.081, followed by Italian Jessica Bormolini and her teammate Samanta Pesenti, the latter hampered by mechanical issues. The event not only showcased the skills of the cyclists but also marked the official opening of the tourist season in Toscolano Maderno, solidifying the Mad of Lake as a symbol of active vacationing in the region.
