The administration of Toscolano Maderno paid tribute to Giulia Conti, a renowned local sailor, during an emotional evening held in the council chamber. Giulia recently made headlines for her victory in the inaugural women’s edition of the America’s Cup with the Luna Rossa team, a historic achievement that has brought prestige to the community. Mayor Chiara Chimini, along with Deputy Mayor Vittoria Goi and other council members, warmly welcomed the champion, who has also inspired young sailors from the Circolo Vela Toscolano Maderno present at the event.
During the ceremony, Giulia reflected on her accomplishments through a dedicated video, showcasing her humility and passion for sailing. With a career marked by success, including four Olympic appearances and numerous world and European titles, Giulia has established herself as one of the most significant figures in Italian sports. After her Olympic journey, she embarked on a coaching career in the United States, earning significant accolades, before returning to the competitive sailing world with Luna Rossa in 2024.
