In 2024, Lake Garda has already recorded over 1.5 million tourist arrivals in the first seven months of the year, marking an increase of 12.6% compared to the same period in 2023. During a meeting in Gardone Riviera, the regional tourism assessor Barbara Mazzali revealed that 63% of tourists come from abroad, with Germany topping the list of nationalities. Other countries experiencing growth include Poland, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
The data also indicates a significant preference for non-hotel accommodations, with over half of overnight stays (50.65%) occurring in campsites and non-hotel facilities. The American market is gaining attention, showing a 295% increase in visitor numbers compared to 2022, with tourists spending, on average, more than their German counterparts. Interest in cultural and food and wine tourism around the lake continues to rise.
