Tourism operators around Lake Garda are expressing significant concerns regarding the Garda Cycle Path project, particularly the section between Salò and Gargnano. The Consortium of Hotels on the Riviera of Garda, along with other local associations, has sent a letter to the Region requesting a hearing in the Mobility Commission. The president of Gardone Europa, Monica Tessarolo, emphasized that recent landslides in the area highlight the geomorphological issues that could impact the safety of the project.
While they acknowledge the potential of the cycle path as a tourist opportunity, operators fear a deterioration of traffic conditions and safety. The current project includes sections of the cycle path on high-traffic roads, creating conflict situations between vehicles and cyclists. Furthermore, concerns are raised about the long-term costs of infrastructure maintenance by municipalities that are already burdened by economic difficulties.
