A challenging day for those traveling along the main arteries of the Basso Garda. Traffic was heavily affected on the afternoon of Thursday, May 23rd, due to an accident on the A4 between Desenzano and Sirmione, exacerbated by adverse weather conditions.
The disruptions began in the early afternoon when a collision involving multiple vehicles occurred between the Desenzano and Sirmione toll booths, heading towards Padua. This event caused long queues and delays not only on the highway but also on the adjacent roads. The situation was further complicated by curious onlookers who stopped to observe the scene of the accident, causing additional delays.
Repercussions on the Strada Provinciale 11
The difficulties were not limited to the A4 highway. The Strada Provinciale 11 also experienced significant repercussions, with congested traffic between Brescia and Peschiera del Garda. The slowdowns were particularly intense near the tunnel adjacent to the Esselunga supermarket in Desenzano, both towards Verona and Brescia.
Adverse weather conditions
The bad weather played a significant role in exacerbating the situation. Unfavorable weather conditions made it even more challenging for vehicles to circulate, contributing to the long waiting times for motorists.
