A new historical exhibition titled “The Battle of Brenner: Stories of Civilians and Pilots (1943-1945)” will be inaugurated on March 8 at 5:00 PM at the Gianni Caproni Aeronautics Museum in Trento. The exhibition aims to commemorate the tragic events that characterized the years 1943-1945, a period during which the Brenner Line was the site of intense aerial bombardments by Allied forces. Organized by the Historical Museum Foundation of Trentino in collaboration with the Benàch Cultural Association and curated by Lorenzo Gardumi and Federica Lavagna, the exhibition illustrates the devastating consequences of the attacks on civilians and infrastructure.
During the years of conflict, over 400 deaths or missing persons were recorded among the local population, with hundreds injured due to air raids. Even after the end of hostilities in May 1945, Trentino continued to suffer losses due to the presence of unexploded ordnance. Through photographs, maps, and testimonies, the exhibition provides an opportunity to reflect on this dark chapter of history and its lasting legacies. Opening hours will be from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with free admission.
