The new large school in Desenzano is nearing completion and is set to be ready by September 2024. However, the transfer of over 500 students from the current Catullo middle school, located on Via Pace, is scheduled for January, with the move planned during the Christmas holidays. Although Giovanni Maiolo, the councilor for Public Works, confirms that the construction is proceeding according to schedule, there are still concerns regarding the timing of the transfer.
The cost of the project has increased further, reaching 12.549 million euros, primarily funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The new facility will feature modern spaces across two floors, including classrooms, laboratories, and an auditorium with a capacity of 500 seats. Meanwhile, controversies have arisen regarding the excavations in the park by the pond for the construction of a retention basin as outlined in the project.
