The future of the Grand Hotel in Gardone Riviera remains uncertain, despite its acquisition in the spring of 2023 by the Romanian company Pavăl Holding. The initial intention was to undertake a significant renovation, managed by Apex Alliance Hotel Management under the Hilton brand, with plans to reopen the property in June 2023. However, a year later, no progress has been made, and the reopening has been postponed to March 2024, with no substantial changes having taken place.
Initially, investments of around 45 million euros were planned, including plans for over 160 rooms and various amenities, but currently, there are no visible signs of ongoing work. It is estimated that the Grand Hotel might reopen in 2025 in a traditional manner. Meanwhile, another project in Gardone Riviera involves transforming the former Casino into a gastronomic center, which appears to be progressing smoothly and promises spaces for events and ceremonies. The long history of the Grand Hotel, inaugurated in 1884, has made it a symbol of the region’s tourism development, making the current situation a cause for concern regarding the future of tourism in the area.
