A new urban regeneration project has been unveiled in Desenzano, featuring the innovative idea of the “Reclining Eiffel Tower” along the city’s viaduct. The concept, titled “Under The Bridge,” was presented by the local startup Holidea, founded by young entrepreneurs Matia Merli and Luca Bignotti. The initiative aims to enhance the existing structure by transforming it into a panoramic park overlooking Lake Garda, thus creating a significant green space for the community. The proposal includes a redesign featuring modular spaces for conferences and exhibitions, urban gardens, coworking areas, and sports facilities, all constructed using recyclable materials and sustainable techniques.
This ambitious project not only seeks to revitalize a neglected urban space but also aims to reduce environmental impact through the use of photovoltaic systems and rainwater harvesting. Since its inauguration in 1854 and the post-war reconstruction in ’44, the viaduct has always played a central role in Desenzano’s skyline; now, the response from the community is awaited regarding this new vision for the future of the structure.
