The work for the creation of the Cherry Blossom Avenue in Borghetto di Valeggio sul Mincio began today, Tuesday, February 4th. The project involves replacing fourteen domestic pines along Via Sanzio with new flowering cherry trees, as part of an initiative aimed at enhancing the area’s landscape heritage, in agreement with the Superintendency of Verona. Mayor Alessandro Gardoni emphasized that this initiative represents an opportunity to improve the aesthetics of the area, benefiting not only residents but also tourists attracted by the sustainable tourism that characterizes the region.
The operations will take place in two phases: the tree cutting will be completed by tomorrow, while from Thursday, February 6th, until February 11th, chipping and planting of the new species will occur. Gardoni assured that the new cherry trees will be well-developed and ready to ensure a swift restoration of the beauty of the avenue. While some temporary inconveniences for traffic and local businesses are expected, the mayor expressed confidence that the final result will justify the momentary disruptions.
