Important project for Valtenesi begins with the first phase of the Valtenesi Aqueduct, which has obtained funding of over 28 million euros. This project, aimed at improving water supply and quality, represents a strategic response to increasingly frequent periods of drought.
The intervention will begin with the enhancement of the lake intake in the Pisenze area of Manerba del Garda. This is just the first part of a larger project that also includes the construction of supply pipelines up to San Felice del Benaco and the decommissioning of the current lake intake. Finally, a water treatment plant will be built in the municipal area of Manerba del Garda.
The funding for the Valtenesi Aqueduct is part of a larger national plan, coordinated by the national Extraordinary Commissioner Nicola Dell’Acqua. During the second coordination meeting held last March, priority projects were defined and critical aspects of the Italian water system were analyzed, with particular attention to ongoing climate changes.
This project not only concerns Manerba del Garda but involves several municipalities in the upper Garda Bresciano area, such as Villa and Cunettone di Salò, San Felice del Benaco, Puegnago del Garda, Polpenazze del Garda, Soiano del Lago, Moniga del Garda, Padenghe sul Garda, and Calvagese della Riviera. The objective is to ensure efficient distribution of drinking water while improving the quality of available water resources.
The 2024 extraordinary plan includes 127 priority works throughout the Italian territory, with a total value of 3.67 billion euros. It is now up to the Ministry of Infrastructure to definitively finance this ambitious project aimed at addressing the challenges posed by water scarcity.
In conclusion, the Valtenesi Aqueduct represents a concrete response to local water needs and is part of a national context aimed at improving the efficiency of Italian water systems.
