Volunteer Fish Guardianship: A Course with the Brescia Fishermen’s Union. Next Saturday, a training course for aspiring volunteer fish guardians will commence in Grumello del Monte, organized in collaboration with the Brescia Fishermen’s Union (U.P.BS). The program, which is completely free of charge, aims to raise awareness among participants about the culture of river and lake environments, promoting a harmonious relationship between aquatic ecosystems and human activities. Registration is open and can be done via email at unionepescatoribresciani@gmail.com.
Classes will be held from 9 AM to 4 PM on January 25, February 1, and February 8, with the final exam scheduled for February 15. Notably, residents of Brescia will also have the option to attend the sessions via videoconference. The main objective of this initiative is to train volunteers capable of overseeing compliance with fishing regulations, ensuring adherence to the rules for the benefit of both fishermen and fish populations. This is particularly relevant during periods of fishing bans on coregone-lavarello in the lake, where violations are often reported by volunteers in collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
