In Torri del Benaco, the recent alarm regarding the quality of water has finally been resolved. Mayor Stefano Nicotra has lifted the order that prohibited the use of water from the public supply for drinking and food purposes. This decision comes after numerous residents reported gastrointestinal symptoms, raising concerns about the safety of the water supply.
The results of tests conducted by the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna were crucial in clarifying the situation. Samples taken by the personnel of the Department of Prevention of the ULSS Scaligera on July 1st tested negative for the presence of Norovirus. Additionally, the microbiological and chemical parameters have returned to normal.
The ULSS has announced that the water system has undergone hyperchlorination treatments to ensure the restoration of adequate microbiological levels. These interventions have made the water safe for human consumption once again.
In addition to resolving the water emergency, the ban on swimming in the waters off Torri del Benaco has also been lifted. The conducted analyses have confirmed that the water parameters comply with current regulations, allowing citizens and tourists to safely enjoy water activities once again.
