DESENZANO: FIRST DAY OF THE 33rd WINTER CHALLENGE 2024/2025 Today marked the opening of the Winter Challenge, an important sailing event organized by the Fraglia Vela Desenzano, in collaboration with the Vela Club Desenzano and Nauticlub Moniga. The event saw the participation of 74 boats, including 22 Dolphin81, 13 Meteor, 4 Surprise, and 12 Asso99, creating a vibrant display of sails on the local waters. During the day, the trophy dedicated to Ettore Santerelli was awarded in honor of the centenary of his birth, while the races took place under a wind of about 5 knots.
In the competition, Giovanni Perani secured first place in the Dolphin81 class with the boat Insolente, followed by Baraimbo and Whisper. Albino Fravezzi leads in the Asso99 class with LeonAsso, while Dario Mesini stands out among the Meteor class with Bloody Mary. Bazzoli Claudio’s Spirto Libero made its mark in the general Orc class. The next event of the Winter Challenge is scheduled for December 1, and activities will continue until February 2, 2025; in the meantime, the winter season of the Fraglia Vela Desenzano will carry on with the traditional Gel Laser on November 23.
