Fraglia Vela Desenzano: the Winter Challenge 2024 returns. On Sunday, November 17, the first winter regatta will take place, with over 65 boats ready to compete in the waters of Desenzano. The “Cimento Invernale,” a flagship event organized by the Fraglia Vela Desenzano, will consist of four days of racing: following the initial race on November 17, subsequent competitions are scheduled for December 1, 2024, January 19, 2025, and February 2, 2025, thanks to the collaboration with the Nautical Club of Moniga del Garda. Crews, divided into several classes including Dolphin 81 and Asso 99, will compete in a maximum of eleven races, with the first warning signal set for 10 AM.
In addition to the sailing competitions, on Saturday, November 16, the centenary of Ettore Santarelli’s birth will be celebrated. Fraglia Vela will present the book “Ettore Santarelli, Dreamer of Boats” by Piero Vantini and will screen a historical video dedicated to the Asso 99 regattas. The event will feature the participation of his daughter, Cristina Santarelli, and will be moderated by Rai journalist Giulio Guazzini. Stefano Loda, president of Fraglia Vela Desenzano, emphasized the significance of this initiative for the club and invited all sailing enthusiasts to actively participate in an event that is becoming a landmark for sailing in Northern Italy.
