The Zanardelli ferry will be the centerpiece of a special initiative on Saturday, in celebration of International Women’s Rights Day. Navigazione Laghi, a governmental body under the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, is offering free tickets to all women who use public transport services on Lake Maggiore, Lake Garda, and Lake Como. This initiative aims to raise public awareness about the importance of the fight for women’s rights, highlighting issues such as gender equality and the struggle against discrimination.
The president of the organization, Pietro Marrapodi, stated that this gesture is intended to encourage women to use public transport for both work and leisure purposes. Female passengers will be able to request the free ticket at the ticket offices, valid for all regular services, excluding express ones. Furthermore, Marrapodi announced the intention to establish a Working Group on Equal Opportunities in the coming weeks, aimed at promoting greater female representation in sectors historically dominated by men.
