The 72nd edition of the Polpenazze del Garda Wine Fair will take place from May 24th to 27th, 2024 in the historic center of the municipality. The event, which celebrates the wines, flavors, and traditions of Valtènesi, will feature the participation of 25 exhibiting wineries and over 200 tasting labels.
Tastings will begin on Friday, May 24th at 6 pm in the squares of the historic center. On Saturday, May 25th, the opening of the Fair Park will be brought forward to noon, allowing visitors to taste all the labels from the winery kiosks and enjoy the refreshment points.
On Sunday, May 26th, there will be the official inauguration of the event, followed by the award ceremony for the winners of the “18th Valtènesi Garda Classico National Wine Competition”. The afternoon will begin with a circus show, followed by the opening of the stands at 6 pm, the performance of the students of the ASD Garda Karate Team, and at 9 pm, the iconic Sergio Garda Music Orchestra will take the stage. At 11 pm, to conclude the four-day event, there will be a fireworks show visible directly from the churchyard.
Maria Rosa Avanzini, mayor of Polpenazze del Garda and President of the Wine Fair, stated: “Our Wine Fair is back, and this year it will reach its 72nd edition. It is a unique tradition not only for Polpenazze and Valtènesi but also for the whole northern Italy; it is an event that makes us proud, a milestone of our cultural identity and an opportunity for the enhancement of the territory! I don’t deny that the organization is particularly complicated and laborious, Polpenazze is a small town and to prepare an event of such magnitude requires an incredible commitment that involves countless subjects for many, many months of work – we, the people of Polpenazze, driven by passion and the intention to preserve our culture, put all our energies into it.”
To ensure the safety of participants, measures such as the prohibition of taking away glass and a mandatory route for accessing Piazza Biolchi will be implemented. Admission to the event, the historic center, and the musical performances will be free, but it will be necessary to purchase a glass on-site to taste the wines directly from the producers. The glasses will be made of 100% recyclable plastic material.
The Polpenazze del Garda Wine Fair is sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Forestry, the Province of Brescia, and the Brescia Chamber of Commerce.
The event represents a reference point for the people of Brescia and offers the opportunity to discover the quality of local wines and the gastronomic excellence of the area. It will also be an occasion to promote the territory and the culture and traditions of Valtènesi.
