An event dedicated to the rediscovery of Brescia’s culture will take place on Friday at 6 PM at the local library, titled “The Wonderful Age: A Journey into the Medieval Era of Albertano Salò“. The evening will feature historian Marcello Zane, writer Enrico Giustacchini, and actor Andrea Giustacchini, who will together explore the significance of Albertano da Brescia, a judge and scholar who played a crucial role in 13th-century European culture. His works have influenced figures such as Dante Alighieri and Geoffrey Chaucer, yet they remain largely unknown in his homeland.
The meeting will provide a glimpse into the Middle Ages as a period of significant intellectual activity, highlighting Albertano’s contributions in both literary and scientific fields. Through engaging dialogues and readings of notable passages, the audience will have the opportunity to discover an era rich in cultural and social innovations, far removed from the stereotypes of darkness commonly associated with the Middle Ages.
