A thousands-of-euros scam targeting a parish priest has been uncovered in recent hours in Vobarno, leading to the arrest of a 31-year-old Romanian couple. The two deceived the priest by convincing him to hand over money for the treatment of a fictitious sick sister. The latest request for help raised the priest’s suspicions, prompting him to contact the Carabinieri of the Salò Company, thus initiating an investigation.
The priest’s report proved crucial in exposing the scam and ensuring justice. The two fraudsters were caught in the act and arrested for aggravated fraud in conspiracy, and were subsequently brought before the Brescia Court for a direct trial. The total amount of donations made by the priest over the months reportedly amounts to several thousand euros, stemming from his generosity and kindness.
