In Bardolino, an inclusive ice skating rink has been inaugurated in the park of Villa Carrara Bottagisio, accessible to individuals with motor disabilities. The initiative, presented on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd, is carried out in collaboration with Polar Park in Rome and represents one of the few inclusive rinks available in Italy. Thanks to an innovative device that allows a wheelchair to be secured onto a steel platform with blades, individuals with mobility challenges can glide on the ice accompanied by their caregivers.
Mayor Daniele Bertasi expressed pride in this initiative that promotes inclusion and socialization. The rink will remain open until Epiphany, every day from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, with prior reservation via WhatsApp to avoid waiting times. Users of the “Filippo Bardellini” day center have already had the opportunity to try out the new facility alongside local school students and volunteers from the Red Cross, highlighting the social value of the initiative.
