On Saturday, May 4th, a book presentation event for “Daemonologie: James I Stuart and English Witchcraft” by Giada Rigatti will be held at the Civic Library of Riva del Garda. The book, published in 2023 by Europa Edizioni, is based on the author’s thesis.
Daemonologie is a work written by King James I Stuart in 1597 and brought demonological theories to Scotland, sparking a persecution against alleged “witches.” Giada Rigatti’s investigation into Daemonologie explores not only the three books of the work but also the world of demonological theories in general.
The event is part of the series “Women and Men on the Move: Heretics, Soldiers, Philanthropists, Migrants” and is organized in collaboration with the Riccardo Pinter association. Admission to the event is free and will begin at 10:30 am.
Giada Rigatti was born in Trentino in 1993 and holds a degree in Medieval Philosophy, History of Christianity and Churches, Research Methodology in Religion, and Modern History. The presentation will take place at the Civic Library of Riva del Garda.
