A meeting dedicated to 16th-century armors will take place on Thursday, December 5, at MarteS in Calvagese della Riviera. Marco Merlo, Curator of the Arms Museum in Brescia, will explore the evolution of these historical artifacts. The event, titled “An Armor for Saints and Heroes,” will focus primarily on the armor of Saint Michael the Archangel created by Fra’ Girolamo da Brescia, which is currently on display until January 9. During the evening, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a guided tour for a fee of €12.
The Saint Michael panel, dating back to the years 1515-1520 and characterized by the Maximilian style, represents an important example of the armory production of that era. This event offers a unique opportunity to delve into the history of armors and their cultural and social significance within the Renaissance context, highlighting the connection between art and craftsmanship in the Brescia tradition.
