A Carabinieri officer from Caprino Veronese has been arrested for drug trafficking during an operation carried out by his own colleagues. On the evening of Saturday, March 1, officers from the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri in Verona caught a 58-year-old inspector exchanging two kilograms of cocaine in a parking lot with a 40-year-old Moroccan man, who was already known to law enforcement. The operation led to the seizure of the narcotic substance and the immediate arrest of both men.
The investigation revealed that the inspector was in possession of additional narcotics, likely linked to previous seizures in earlier operations. Both individuals have been taken to the Verona prison and will face charges related to the production and illegal trafficking of narcotic substances, in addition to a charge of embezzlement against the Carabinieri officer. The Public Prosecutor’s Office has expressed confidence in the actions of the Carabinieri, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law even within institutions.
