A significant purification initiative is underway in Castelnuovo del Garda, where Gardesana Servizi (AGS) is investing over 1 million euros to enhance the local sewage infrastructure. The work, which began in December 2024 and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2025, includes the decommissioning of the outdated treatment plant in Oliosi and the construction of a new pumping station. This project aims to optimize the purification system by transferring wastewater from the communities of Oliosi and Mongabia to the centralized treatment facility in Peschiera del Garda.
The General Director of AGS, Carlo Alberto Voi, explained that the decision to decommission the existing plant was driven by the need to reduce issues related to odor emissions and high management costs. With the new system, a significant reduction in pollutant loads discharged into the environment is anticipated, along with an improvement in the quality of purification, thereby ensuring a more efficient service for residents. The completion of the work will mark an important step towards more sustainable environmental management in the area.
