Regione Lombardia has announced a new subsidy for high-speed commuters on the Milano-Brescia-Desenzano route, aimed at financially supporting the purchase of integrated train subscriptions with local public transport. A maximum of 300,000 euros will be available for residents who purchase such subscriptions, with the possibility of receiving up to 90 euros per month depending on the type and route selected. This initiative, proposed by the Councillor for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Franco Lucente, is part of the “Dote Trasporti” program, which will be in effect from March 2025 until February 2027.
Lucente emphasized the importance of ensuring that citizens have the freedom to choose the best way to travel, promoting integration between rail, road, and water transport. The subsidies range from 10 to 90 euros per month and can be requested every six months, corresponding to the application windows in April and October until April 2027. Eligible subscriptions include those integrated only with the Lombardy regional rail service or also with local urban services, as well as subscriptions linked to the IVOL program ‘Io Viaggio Ovunque in Lombardia’ (I Travel Anywhere in Lombardy).
