The Municipality of Desenzano has announced an ambitious project for the reconstruction of the swimming pools, which have been closed for nearly a year, with a planned investment of 12 million euros. The Councilor for Public Works, Giovanni Maiolo, stated that the aim is to start construction in 2025 and complete the facility by 2027. The tender will be open to all interested parties, but the company Piscine Castiglione will have a sort of preferential treatment in the event of improved offers. Currently, the submission of the feasibility study by the proposing party is awaited in order to proceed with the bidding process.
To finance the project, 5.2 million euros are already available from the budget surplus. The plan includes a public-private partnership model similar to a leasing arrangement, where the Municipality will cover part of the cost and future operators will contribute through an annual rent. Despite the initial intentions of Gam Team, led by Giorgio Lamberti, to act as co-proponent, no official proposals have been formalized so far, raising controversies regarding the involvement of the municipal administration in the matter.
