On Thursday, March 6, the Municipality of Desenzano officially approved the Memorandum of Understanding for the redevelopment of the hospital, a long-awaited step. This agreement involves not only the municipal administration but also the Lombardy Region, the Province of Brescia, ASST del Garda, and ATS Brescia. According to Mayor Guido Malinverno, the protocol establishes the creation of a Working Group tasked with examining the project alternatives already outlined in the Feasibility Study and proposing further solutions during the technical assessments.
A crucial aspect of the Protocol concerns the future of the current hospital facility: it is expected to retain healthcare and social-health functions as part of a broader project aimed at the renaturalization of the area. Additionally, adjacent areas to the existing hospital or other locations within Desenzano will be evaluated to facilitate access to the new hospital structure, always considering the enhancement of the region’s landscape and environmental heritage.
