A tragic event has struck Desenzano and the Val di Non, where a newborn died during childbirth, leading to the suicide of one of the doctors involved. The incident occurred between the end of January and the early days of February, when complications arose during the mother’s labor. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, who had to resort to using a vacuum extractor to assist with the delivery, the newborn was born in critical condition and could not survive after an emergency transfer to the Civile Hospital in Brescia. The parents, originally from Eastern Europe, have filed a complaint to clarify the circumstances surrounding the death, prompting an investigation for manslaughter, with approximately ten individuals under investigation.
Following the incident, one of the obstetricians involved in the delivery went missing, and his lifeless body was found three days later at the foot of a bridge in Val di Non. Authorities are investigating the absence of messages or clues that could link the doctor’s actions to the tragedy of the childbirth. Currently, there is no direct evidence suggesting a connection between the two events. An autopsy has been ordered for the newborn, and investigations continue on both fronts to shed light on what transpired during the critical days from January 31 onward.
