Recent developments regarding the new hospital in Desenzano have led to an alternative solution that is gaining support, promising to resolve the complex “riddle” surrounding the future of the healthcare facility. The proposal involves the construction of the new facility in the parking area for employees of the current hospital, thereby avoiding a location in an area subject to environmental restrictions. This option was discussed during a meeting between Mayor Guido Malinverno and the political table composed of various parties, which confirmed that the dialogue is yielding results. The latest meeting took place last Thursday, prior to the approval of the memorandum of understanding from the Region, which seems to open new possibilities for the future of the hospital.
With 20,000 square meters available at the proposed site, it is expected that the non-recoverable parts of the current structure will be replaced, and some recent areas, such as the outpatient block, will be rehabilitated. The political table emphasizes the importance of finding a synthesis between the majority and the opposition to ensure a shared path towards this solution that is acceptable to the community. Malinverno highlighted the need to preserve the Plis and to use the former hospital for social and health purposes, categorically ruling out other options deemed inadequate.
