The Desenzano Hospital Committee has announced a new mobilization for Monday, March 3, in Piazza Malvezzi, to express its opposition to the relocation of the current hospital facility. This initiative comes in light of recent rumors regarding the future of the city’s hospital, with confirmation that an agreement will be signed in the coming days between the Lombardy Region, the Province of Brescia, the Municipality of Desenzano, and other institutions to initiate a feasibility study for a new hospital. The committee emphasizes the importance of maintaining the healthcare facility on Montecroce, highlighting concerns such as the negative impact on the community and the lack of transparency in the procedural process.
Additionally, the committee has filed a report with the Court of Auditors and the Prosecutor’s Office, denouncing numerous issues related to the new hospital project. Among these concerns are worries about underestimated costs and the uncertain fate of the current facility once it is decommissioned. The ambivalent stance of the Malinverno Administration, which initially opposed the construction in the so-called “buca,” has raised doubts among citizens, making the gathering in Piazza Malvezzi a crucial moment to seek public clarification on the “Memorandum of Understanding” related to the redevelopment of the hospital facility.
