Lake Garda is preparing to host an extraordinary music event: the band Dogstar, featuring actor and musician Keanu Reeves, will perform for the first time at the Vittoriale Amphitheater in Gardone Riviera. The concert is scheduled for Sunday, June 23, 2024, as part of the Tener-a-mente festival.
After a long hiatus of over two decades, Dogstar returned to the scene with their new album “Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees,” released in October 2023. The album represents the band’s third studio work and marks an important evolution in their musical journey, ranging from narrative rock to pop-rock sounds.
Dogstar was formed in 1991 through the meeting of three friends: Keanu Reeves (bass), Bret Domrose (vocals and guitar), and Robert Mailhouse (drums). Despite the initial notoriety due to Reeves’ presence, the group managed to win over critics and audiences with their musical abilities. After the release of the EP “Quattro Formaggi” in 1996 and their first album “Our Little Visionary” in the same year, Dogstar embarked on international tours that saw them perform at the Glastonbury Festival and open for artists such as David Bowie and Bon Jovi.
In 2000, they released their second album “Happy Ending,” but two years later, they decided to disband after a show in Japan. During this period, Bret Domrose pursued a solo career while Reeves and Mailhouse formed another band called Becky.
The Dogstar reunion was announced in May 2022, twenty years after their breakup. During the lockdown, the members continued to play together, creating new songs that led to the birth of their latest album. Produced by Dave Trumfio (Wilco) and Ruddy Lee Cullers in Los Angeles, “Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees” was well received by both fans and critics.
Keanu Reeves expressed great satisfaction with the new work, stating, “One of the things I love about this album is the variety of feelings. Each song is not the same: you can hear our influences and many different tones here.”
The Dogstar performance at the Tener-a-mente Festival represents one of the most anticipated events of the summer season on Lake Garda. Tickets for the concert have already sold out, a sign of the excitement generated by the band’s return.
The gates will open at 8:00 PM with the show starting at 9:15 PM. This event offers Italian fans the unique opportunity to experience the live performance of the legendary American power band.
