The issue has been attributed to damage to cables during maintenance work for the installation of gas pipelines carried out by local authorities. This inconvenience coincided with the promotional period of Black Friday, leaving many consumers unable to make purchases.
Nexi has confirmed that the service disruptions were caused by an outage in the Worldline network, which experienced connectivity issues with its data centers in Italy. Investigations are currently underway to find alternative solutions and restore the damaged physical infrastructure as quickly as possible, while users continue to report difficulties with withdrawals at ATMs and payments via POS systems.
