The Lombardy Region has allocated two million euros to support the volunteer fire stations, an initiative aimed at improving the equipment and operational facilities of these associations. This funding is the result of a recently concluded call for proposals directed at non-profit organizations, social promotion associations, and volunteer organizations, all dedicated to supporting the local fire stations. The regional councilor for Security, Romano La Russa, stated that the goal is to provide volunteer firefighters with efficient means and functional spaces.
In total, 55 projects submitted by 60 associations have been funded, with grants of up to 50,000 euros for improvements to facilities and around 35,000 euros for the purchase of vehicles and technical equipment. The provinces involved include Bergamo, Brescia, Como, and Milan, among others. La Russa expressed satisfaction with the success of the call for proposals and announced the intention to promote further initiatives in support of volunteer firefighters.
