Decree-law no. 7 of January 29, 2024, converted with amendments by law no. 38 of March 25, 2024, introduced a new voting method for “out-of-town” students during the 2024 European elections. This opportunity is only valid for students temporarily residing in a municipality different from their residence for a period of at least three months, which includes the date of the elections.
The voting methods depend on whether or not the temporary municipality belongs to the same electoral district as the residence municipality. If the temporary municipality belongs to the same electoral district as Salò, out-of-town students can vote directly in the temporary municipality. If, however, the temporary municipality belongs to a different electoral district, students can vote in the capital of the region where the temporary municipality is located.
Interested students must submit a request to the residence municipality using the appropriate form available on the municipal administration’s website by May 5, 2024. The request must be accompanied by a copy of a valid identification document, the voter card, and certification or documentation attesting to enrollment in a university or educational institution.
The application can be submitted in person at the Electoral Office of the Municipality of Salò, through a delegated person, or via email or PEC. The application can be revoked by May 15, 2024.
The temporary municipality or the regional capital will send voters a certification of admission to out-of-town voting by June 4, 2024. To vote, students must present themselves at the assigned polling station with a valid identification document, their personal voter card, and the certification of admission to vote.
The municipal Electoral Office is available for further information regarding this voting method for out-of-town students during the 2024 European elections. You can find more information on the official website.
