On January 1, 2025, the Grottoes of Catullus in Sirmione will exceptionally open to the public from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, offering free guided tours of the archaeological site. This historic location, which houses the remains of a luxurious Roman villa dating back to the Augustan era, is situated at the tip of the peninsula and provides a panoramic view of Lake Garda. Guided tours will take place at regular intervals throughout the day and are included in the ticket price.
The archaeological area spans approximately 2 hectares and is surrounded by an ancient olive grove with over 1,500 trees. Additionally, the small Archaeological Museum of Sirmione, active since 1999, showcases significant artifacts from the surrounding territory. The last entry to visit the Grottoes will be allowed at 2:10 PM.
