Salò is currently at the center of a scam perpetrated by an individual posing as an Alpine soldier, soliciting money from merchants and restaurateurs for the purchase of a minibus for disabled individuals. The Head of the Alpine Group in Salò, Paolo Rossati, has issued a warning to shopkeepers, emphasizing that the impersonator, a man approximately 30-35 years old, has also targeted nearby municipalities such as Vobarno. Rossati clarified that the Alpine soldiers never ask for money outside of their own territory.
The fake Alpine has already operated in other Italian regions, including Veneto and Belluno, where he is said to have defrauded around a hundred merchants. Local authorities have been informed of the situation, and the carabinieri have been alerted. Rossati encourages anyone receiving suspicious requests to contact the Alpine Group or law enforcement directly to avoid falling into the trap.
