A recent summit outlined the future of sustainable mobility in the area, highlighting plans for the Lago di Garda cycling path. The cycling route that was meant to connect Fasano to Limone will not be constructed due to high costs and landslide risks. However, a project for an electric boat service connecting municipalities along the coastline is currently in development, providing a viable alternative for commuters and cycling enthusiasts. This new system will extend the cycling path to the port of Fasano and utilize hybrid boats for the segment to Limone, with the service expected to launch within two years.
During the meeting, mayors and regional representatives also discussed the situation regarding the Gardesana road, emphasizing the need for sustainable solutions to reduce vehicle traffic by 30% through frequent boat services with stops in various villages. Topics such as hydrogeological risk monitoring and the reopening of the road between Gargnano and Tignale were addressed, along with the proposal for a new tunnel to bypass Toscolano Maderno and Gardone Riviera, which is currently awaiting ministerial approval. These initiatives aim to ensure effective mobility in the stunning setting of Lake Garda.
