This morning, there were traffic jams and congestion on the Gardesana road north of Gargnano due to a malfunction of the traffic lights that regulate the alternating one-way traffic inside the tunnels. The situation was further complicated by the heavy traffic typical of weekdays, especially during the summer period.
Even before 8 am, several drivers found themselves stuck inside the Acli, Eutenia, and Ciclopi tunnels. These tunnels lead to the Casello della Tor locality north of Gargnano and are located near the junction with SP38, which leads to the Tignale plateau.
As often happens in these cases, the simultaneous passage of heavy vehicles coming from opposite directions caused queues and inconvenience during the evacuation of the stranded vehicles inside the tunnels.
The situation caused significant delays along almost a kilometer of road, causing inconvenience for drivers who needed to reach their destinations. It is important to underline how incidents like this can have a negative impact on tourism in the area, especially during peak periods such as summer weekends.
The authorities were notified of the incident and worked to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. However, incidents like this raise questions about the maintenance and reliability of traffic lights and road infrastructure in the Lake Garda area.
