The FAZI in Montichiari has concluded its 96th edition with encouraging results, registering a significant increase in attendance and a growing international participation. The event saw active involvement from farmers, breeders, and professional visitors, all engaged in exploring the opportunities presented by innovation to tackle the challenges faced by the sector, including climate change and ecological transition.
Reflections on the Success of the Event
Gianantonio Rosa, president of the Fair Center, emphasized that the event exceeded expectations. He pointed out that the absence of dairy cattle, a central element of the fair and a symbol of breeders’ efforts to improve animal quality, did not negatively impact the event. On the contrary, it was viewed as a responsible choice to protect the animals from Blue Tongue disease.
Engagement and Innovation in the Livestock Sector
Roberto Nocentini, president of the Italian Breeders Association, confirmed the atmosphere of enthusiasm among industry operators. The attendance at conferences dedicated to genomics and animal welfare demonstrates a strong interest in new technologies that can enhance livestock production. “Despite the absence of the dairy cow show,” Nocentini stated, “FAZI continues to be a significant event on both national and international levels.”
Economic Opportunities in Sustainability
The current economic context favors investments in sustainability across various livestock sectors. With the rising global demand for animal proteins from growing regions such as Asia and Africa, farms are motivated to plan strategic investments to ensure a prosperous future.
Technological Innovations on Display
Among the exhibitors, there was a noticeable growing interest in digital and robotic solutions. In particular, an innovative milking robot developed by the Brescia-based company TDM was showcased. This technology promises to simplify work in barns without requiring significant structural modifications.
The Importance of Strategic Planning
During the event, the imminent signing of an experimental protocol among various institutions to enhance the value of digestate as a natural fertilizer was also announced. Giovanni Filippini, General Director of Animal Health at the Ministry of Health, expressed the intention to integrate databases in agriculture and animal health to optimize the health management of farms.
The 97th edition of FAZI will take place at the Fair Center from October 24 to 26, 2025.
